Tonight was a first for me as well. My child owns no guns or weapons yet. I know thatll come soon enough. But some how, boys manage to know how to turn Anything into a weapon and know the sound effects to go with themi always laugh about the time when i was shopping in a craft store, while pregnant, and a little boy ran by with his mom and had turned the object in his hand into a gun and was yelling bang very loudly! I told my mom then that i really wouldnt know what to do if i had a boy, that they are just too rowdy and violent haha! Tonight i told ben, i wouldnt change this boy for all the girls in the world! How your perspective changes once you have your own child! But back to the point of this story, tonight for the first time, p says to me, "mommy you be the good guy and ill be the bad guy and ill kill you!" Then proceeds to turn his pillow ( that we were having a pillow fight with also per his request) into a gun and makes shooting noises. The memory at the craft store rused back to me and i laughed bc this was that exact scenario that i had witnessed 3 years ago and furrowed my brow at, now i am living it anf laughing and loving it. Never think you know what you want or what is best for you- bc as humans we do not know best! After that p raced his tractor as i vooked dinner and also for the first time ever, and insticivly as boys do, began attempting donuts/ spinning out with his toy on the slick floor! At one point he tipped over and then decided his tractor needed some repairs bc of the fall. He got his bob the builder tools. Put on his jacket and tool belt (sans pants) and began working. I told him anout "lifts" in auto shops and so we then created a lift for his tractor. He said his hands had gotten dirty working and hed need some gloves on like daddy ises. So we applied some gloves, too ;) after that he raced his tractor once more having repaired it! He rode cirlces around the table yelling, "its fixed! Im the number one star!!" And waving and holding up one finger!
3 has been full of the best quotes and funny phrases! Its amazing! During dinner he did prayer and said, "thank you (gaynchu) God for our food. Gaynchu for our fork and our spoon. And for grandmommy and pawpaw and mommy and daddy and my cup amen i love you God." He performed magic tricks tonight too. He had a ceramic pumpkin dish that he put a ball in and said "what this magic trick, tell me you dont like this ball" so i did and he then removed the ball from the dish, threq it actoss the floor, held up the empty dish with great sutptise and said "see! Its gone!!!!" It was beyond precious! Then he put tic tacs in the dish and began bouncing it on his hand up and down saying it was a tic tac poppper (vs popcorn popper) but the dish wavked him in the mouth and he cried and it bled and i scooped him up and doctored him and loved on him and whispered its ok im here im here i will always take care of you. He felt better and was all cleaned up when i said, as we walked back to the bonus room to play, "would you like a cold popscicle to help with your lip hurting?" And he says to me,"No u did a great job mommy. U took care of me. I dont need a popsicle. You took good care of me" what every mommy wants yo hear :) ( ge Then said," lets make it a tic Tac shaker and shake it side to side so it doesnt pop my lip again" hahaha- smart boy). Manners have also been making an impact lately, 3 years of training is beginning to pay off in a big way- this boy is full of gaynchu, please, im sorry, may i and other fabulous words! After dinner i always hear a "thank you mommy for making me dinner". Totally unprompted. Tonight i made breakfast and he said thank you for making me breakfast mommy. Its beyond the sweetest compliment. Also knowing all the hard work is paying off in raising a sweet, kind, compassionate boy. My heart over flows.
